On December 18, 2023, the sponsor bus specially designed for the "AED on board" campaign was presented at a press event. The numerous sponsors in attendance were able to see the first AEDs (automated external defibrillators) purchased with their support, which will be available on municipal buses in the future. The FAB logo is also emblazoned on this bus, as we proudly support this project and are pleased to contribute to Flensburg's emergency aid by providing a technical lifesaver.
In critical moments, AEDs can interrupt dangerous cardiac arrhythmias such as ventricular fibrillation and guide first responders during cardiac massage. The time factor and the rapid availability of a defibrillator play an enormously important role here. Placing the technical lifesavers on buses should help to ensure continuous emergency care. Currently, AEDs are mostly found in public buildings, but these often have limited opening hours. Aktiv Bus is planning to equip all 56 buses, which are on the road almost around the clock in all parts of the city, with defibrillators.
Thanks to the support of sponsors, around 75 percent of the buses have already been equipped with AEDs.
