As an established housing cooperative, we are happy to stand by our tenants and members - often for a lifetime. Some residents have been part of the FAB for 40, 50 or even 60 years! We would like to thank them for their loyalty - with our traditional spring ball.
Of course, our long-standing members make sure to keep this date as free as possible. Over the years, we have come to know many of our guests very well. We know each other, we meet up - often just once a year - and enjoy a wonderful afternoon together. This year, on March 17, 2016, numerous people once again accepted our invitation to the ballroom in the Deutsches Haus, which was festively decorated by our many helpers with beautiful flower arrangements from Blumen Fischer.
FAB Director Michael Kohnagel opened the event with a few words. In his speech, he particularly welcomed Ilse Haupt and Hilde Braun as well as former board colleague Rolf Kröger and his wife Helga. The rest of the program was hosted by our presenter Thomas Mühlhausen - as always with his usual aplomb and charm.
Immediately afterwards, the focus was on the physical well-being: the lavish coffee table delighted with great cakes and cake specialties.

The highlight was, of course, the moment when our long-standing members and tenants were allowed to walk down the red carpet. They received their certificates, flowers and culinary gifts from the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, Antje Mannhardt, and FAB board members Michael Kohnagel and Andreas Mundt. The posthumous tribute to our former board member and director Manfred Braun, who passed away in February, was particularly emotional. His wife Hilde accepted the certificate for 50 years of membership on his behalf.
We congratulated a total of 25 members on this special occasion. And of course we toasted our guests of honor - with a glass of sparkling wine at the bar tables in the foyer.
Dancing into spring
As befits a ball, there was plenty of dancing that afternoon! Our band created the perfect atmosphere, ensuring that the dance floor was always full. But they were not the only ones responsible for the background music: Rita Gäbler and the jazz quintet enchanted the audience with great melodies and a great voice.
Towards the end of the afternoon, another real spectacle was offered. The "Masterformation Streetdance" from the Flensburg Dance Club wowed the audience with acrobatic figures and perfect choreography. The young dancers aged 16-23 have a real highlight ahead of them in August. They will be taking part in the World Championships in Los Angeles - and we are keeping our fingers crossed for them!
