As you have probably already heard from the press and media, a legal change in cable TV provision is due to take effect on July 1, 2024. Due to the modification of the Telecommunications Act, we will no longer be allowed to charge the costs for cable TV via the operating costs from this date. In accordance with this regulation, every tenant must conclude an individual contract for cable TV supply in order to continue receiving cable TV. To make this changeover as easy as possible for you, we offer you two alternatives:
Option 1: Continuation of cable television
From July 1, 2024, we will reduce your advance payment for operating costs by 10.00 euros. However, if you would like to continue receiving cable TV as before, we will conclude a separate contract with you. The amount of 10.00 euros gross per month will be invoiced together with your rent. You do not need to worry about anything - we will make the switch automatically. You can cancel your cable TV supply at the end of each month. If you wish to make use of this arrangement, you do not need to do anything else. We will adjust the contracts accordingly. further advantages: You do not have to be at home on the day of the switchover, no new reception devices are required and there is no need to search for channels.
The contract runs automatically until July 31, 2025 and then ends automatically.
Option 2: Do without cable television
If you wish to give up your cable connection from July 1, 2024, simply send us an informal notification (if you have not already done so). We will then reduce your advance payment of operating costs by €10.00 per month from July 2024.
But what happens from August 1, 2025?
From this date, cable TV reception and an Internet and telephone connection via net.services GmbH & Co. KG will no longer be technically possible. Following an extensive tendering process, we have agreed special conditions with Vodafone for the cable TV supply. In the coming year, the telecommunications company will contact you directly to discuss your individual requirements.
Fiber optics for all
Another important step is the fiber optic connection for all FAB apartments. In negotiations with Vodafone, we have agreed that all of our approximately 2,500 rental properties will receive a fiber optic connection by 31 July 2031. The construction work required for this is extremely costly and complex, and the contractors will also have to visit the individual apartments as part of this. We will of course inform you separately as soon as the work is due to be carried out in your residential complex. We ask for your understanding that we are not yet able to provide any specific connection dates.
You have the choice
Parallel to the expansion of the fiber optic network, the high-speed coaxial cable network will remain in your home. Vodafone will be able to provide Internet speeds of up to one gigabit via this network from August 1, 2025. If your home is connected to the fiber optic network, you do not have to switch to another fiber optic provider. You can continue to use your existing connection without any problems.
Beware of doorstep selling
Some providers are already trying to sell our tenants their own fiber optic connections. Do not be persuaded to sign a contract prematurely. Third-party providers are not given access to FAB buildings to install their own infrastructure. together with our partners, we ensure that all homes receive a fiber optic connection. This is the only way we can avoid laying individual cables in corridors, shafts and on the facade, which could disrupt the coordinated expansion in the future.
