Due to legal requirements, our company has had a road safety department for several years now. Ramona Kutzera, our "safety officer", focuses on this topic. She is often out and about in our housing stock. She looks in cellars, laundry rooms and attics, walks through the stairwells and outside areas with her eyes wide open. And she sees a lot of things that shouldn't be there. Legislation has imposed these requirements to protect tenants and residents. As landlords, we have a duty to identify and act accordingly in the context of traffic safety, particularly with regard to preventive fire protection. Requests and information sent to our residents in the course of this are therefore not to be seen as a personal attack, but are important for the safety of our residents.
In the best cooperative spirit, we should all pull together - also in your own interest and that of your neighbors.
Do you also have a "skeleton" in your closet?
It's hard to believe how many old bicycles are gathering dust and rotting away in the cellars of our housing stock! In some cellars, this is already at the expense of new bicycles, which can then only be squeezed into the cellar in a cramped space.
Bicycle cellars or other communal areas (e.g. stairwells, attics or under the stairs) are not storage areas for old and broken bicycles or even disused bicycle corpses! (The same applies to bicycle shelters, of course.) Perhaps you still have an old chaise somewhere in the house and have forgotten about it in the meantime? That can happen. But then please be honest and make sure that the bike is disposed of now.
You can do this conveniently via the TBZ (bulky waste). It is free of charge for residents, but if we arrange it, there is a charge and it is then passed on to everyone. That doesn't have to be the case.
